Two MGA Transmissions - '56 thru '58

Two (2) Freshly Rebuilt MGA transmissions!For MGAs from 1956 through 1958 with the 10-splined sliding driveshaft. They fit to the “Low Starter” 1500 cc backing plate.

Rebuild highlights: •

• Thorough cleaning of case components, all threads chased, stamped covers sand blasted, primed and painted.
• Bushings and bearings replaced as necessary.
• New - rubber seals, synchronizer rings, uprated layshaft and laygearroller bearings.
• Measure Laygear end float and adjust w/new thrust washer.
• 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th gear hub assemblies dismantled, cleaned and reassembled to ensure proper smooth operation.
• Shaft locating block cleaned, new springs and factory mod per Workshop Manual Section FF.1
• Apply MG Service Memorandum MG 241 
• Seal replaced in speedo drive assembly.
• Clutch fork lever bushing and bolt replaced. 
• Input shaft bearing shims and roller set replaced.
• Clutch lever boot installed. • Replace rear trans mount.
• Assembled all trans components, checked operation through all 4 gears and reverse.

Liberally applied 10W30 motor oil over the gears in anticipation of storage. All covers sealed with Permatex Black Silicone Gasket Sealer. Windsor/Detroit MG Club member since 2017. Currently own 1958 OEW Bugeye and 1957 BRG MGA. I was a BMC “factory trained” mechanic back in the 1960’s. I’ve kept my hand in the business since then because, for some reason, I can’t leave these little English beauties alone! They must be kept on the road and I love a good fettle!

High-Performance Rover Engine 3.5L V8

I bought the engine in Dec. 2011 from former club member Dave Reed. It’s a 197x Rover Engine model v8. It weighs about 45 pounds less than the factory 1800 cc 4 cylinder (in my 1978 MGB) and doubles the hp.  It has about 32,000 miles on it.
Dave found it through the Autorama. The engine was in a car at the time he purchased it.
The seller said he had work done on the heads to improve performance.

1980 MGB for Sale

We have a 1980 MGB that’s been in our family since new that we would like to sell. It has 43,265 miles, excellent condition, unrestored with no rust, new tires and a
hard top. Bill Case has maintained it for years. Currently it needs a $1000 transmission rebuild.
We are willing to have Bill make repair before selling or deduct repair cost if buyer wants to do repair.
